Need some help

Has anybody done the Buenos Aires to Iguazu post or pre cruise extension. The question is what do you do with the excess baggage that you bring with you for the cruise and the domestic airlines only allow 20 kilos (50 lbs) per person. Has anybody used a shipping company or do you just pay $12.00 per kilo excess baggage that the airlines down there want. Called princess executive office and they checked. They called me back and they said they have no plans in place to transfer luggage from Buenos Aires to Rio De Janeiro. Fedex and UPS want $1500.00 for 3 bags each at 50lbs. Can anybody help with this problem.

We spent 2 nights before flying up to Iguazu and left our luggage at the hotel for a day and a half at no charge. If you book Iquazu travel through a BA travel agent, they may be able to help too.

Last fall, my husband and I toured Egypt, Jordan, and Greece prior to boarding a 2 week cruise that began in Istanbul. Wardrobe requirements were totally different, and we also had very limited weight allowances for bags on internal flights in Egypt. We used The Luggage Club, which was the only baggage transfer service willing to ship to Istanbul. For a medium bag it was $300.00. So, all the dressier cruise clothes, shoes, etc. was sent to our hotel in Istanbul. Diana Chang ( of The Luggage Club) was very helpful. There are other baggage services out there, including some used by the cruise lines. Good luck and Bon Voyage!

Is this a Princess excursion???? IF they have no plans to transfer luggage, I would ditch the Princess excursion (which is overpriced anyway), book your own hotel/air/transfers, etc. or have a reputable TA do it for you. You most likely will have a FAR better experience and won't have to worry about the luggage. If you need help making the arrangements, please post. If this is a Princess excursion, it is a poor one. Would they really expect you to leave your luggage or ship it home????

 

I am in the international logistics business. Shipping luggage is prohibitively expensive anyplace in the world to the USA. You CAN use the Post Office and International Express/Priority Mail for about 1/3 the price, but you will have to box your luggage. And not plan on seeing it for about 30 days.

So far as of today, the airline from BA to Iguazu want $1.12. per pound in excess bags or weight which comes to $128.00 for the 2 extra bags and the additional 6lbs from the 44lbs to 50lbs. From Iguazu to Rio is an international flight so 2 bags per person 50lbs is ok.

Then why even think about shipping your luggage???? Just pay the small excess luggage fee and don't think twice. Enjoy!!!!
