gingerja Posted July 12, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 12, 2008 Hi we're doing our first cruise on PS in Sept, have read mixed results, mainly 2 year old feedback. Has anyone been on Pacific Sun this year and if so how was it? And the 18 year olds going with us want to know what the casino is like and when open. thanks
Ela 2 Posted July 12, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 12, 2008 We have been on the Pacific Sun for two 14-day cruises this year, and we thought she was great. We had been on the same ship in 2000 when she was the "Jubilee" and then she was tired. The casino is not open while the ship is on port. Otherwise the slot machines are open from 9am until 'late', and the tables are open from 12noon until 'late'. Have a great cruise.:):)
bomber Posted July 12, 2008 #3 Share Posted July 12, 2008 We just got back yesterday from PS and we had a great cruise. I guess she is an older boat but a lot of fun. The food, service and activities were great. I am hoping to get around to writing a proper review in the next day or two which hopefully might be of some help to you but let's just say everyone I spoke to on the ship was having a wonderful time and none of us wanted to get off. jessica3152 Posted July 12, 2008 #4 Share Posted July 12, 2008 Compared with the newer cruise ships she is obviously older but as long as you go expecting a slightly older ship you will have a great time. PS is due for a drydock in August where she will be repainted in her new all white livery and there will several other mods as they prepare for the intro of freestyle dining early next year. If you have kids they will love the waterslide which none of the other Australian ships offer.

That's great as we are on her in September. Last time was May, so it will be great too see the changes. I am not sure if it is that tropical sunny sailaway that kick starts it, always remember the song hot hot hot as we sailed away drink in hand. Or if it is the staff who are amazing that make you feel really special, or Demo the cruise director who made me laugh so hard. The casino to me is just a casino as I don't tend to gamble, but my DH said this time we are going to have a go at blackjack. I think the thing that the 18 year old boys will like are some of the competitions, they are so funny and everyone has a great time. Two of my kids one 32 and one 16 both joined in a scavenger hunt and it was things like the fastest group to find a man wearing a bra, which was very funny to first get a bra and then to find a man to wear it. They also spent heaps of time in the games arcade. The night club was fun for my older son, actually he said he would be happy just to holiday on the ship and never get off in port. The boys will be so blown away when they board and will be swept up in the momentum of the excitement of all on board. You will love it and I am sure they will too. steve1970 Posted July 12, 2008 #6 Share Posted July 12, 2008 We have returned from the Sun last month after a 10 night cruise and it was our 2nd cruise only.I think the sun is very tired, staff are good, but the ship itself is showing its age.Steve

fishtaco Posted July 14, 2008 #8 Share Posted July 14, 2008 Looking at some cruise vidio last night and the Dawn looked empty compared to the PS,I think that is why I enjoyed the PS more than the PD even though it was older and a bit more tacky,it had a more party atmosphere to me? Mind you the mini suite on the Dawn made up for it,Thank you mr P&O,or was it the upgrade fairy? Den
