texancruzer Posted July 30, 2008 #26 Share Posted July 30, 2008 We did a private tour with APTours and did the following itinerary: Pompeii for 2-1/2 hr private guided tour - Ravello for @ 1 hr. free time Amalfi for @ 1-1/2 hr free time which included lunch on our own Positano for 1 hr free time with stops in between for photo ops and shopping. We ended in Sorrento where we took the ferry back to Naples. NOW - This is key !!!! We were there the very very end of November. NO TRAFFIC, NO CROWDS, NO LINES ETC...... Our rule of thumb is to ALWAYS head to the furthest point and work our way back to the ship. This is very important in high season as the traffic anywhere can cause delays.....as well as a flat tire, car problems etc etc.... If I were to do this area in June I would surely follow this advice !
luvdasea Posted July 31, 2008 #27 Share Posted July 31, 2008 We took Drive Amalfi. Very accomodating. We did Pompeii first (guided tour-2 hours) highlight, Ravello (1 hour) could have spent more time here, Minore (1 1/2) we ate here and it had a nice black sand beach, not cruise-ship touristy, Amalfi (about 1 hour in town, 1 hour at the emerald grotto and ceramic shop), back to the ship. It seemed like alot of driving. Didn't get to Positano. We were very tired at the end, but we did get to see many different things that day. I wish I could have spent more time in each place.
