Athens or Piraeus Hotel?

We are arriving in Athens at 11:00PM and are leaving the next day from Piraeus on our Azamara cruise. I checked into an airport hotel (Sofitel) but they wanted $250 for a room. The Piraeus area seems rather unappealling. I'd appreciate any suggestions for a decent hotel somewhere en route from the airport to Piraeus. We've been to Athens

so sightseeing is not an issue. Thanks for your help.
