GAJE Posted July 13, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 13, 2008 It seems that the CC search engine has been "temporarily down" for the past three days. Has anyone else found this to be the case, or am I doing something wrong - again?!
vbmom87 Posted July 13, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 13, 2008 It seems that the CC search engine has been "temporarily down" for the past three days. Has anyone else found this to be the case, or am I doing something wrong - again?! One thing I have found is the search engine likes simple words for the search. If you use too many words, it will often say "temporarily" down. I just did a few simple searches and it worked fine. I have experimented with this many times. Whenever I get that message that the search function is down, I try again with a shorter way of stating my search and I am then successful. Try it and let us know what happens. GAJE Posted July 13, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted July 13, 2008 I am looking for Ft. Lauderdale hotels close to the cruise port. I have seen a lot about this on cc previously. My search started with "ft. lauderdale hotels" and then just "ft. lauderdale". I get the "temporarily down" message both ways.
vbmom87 Posted July 13, 2008 #4 Share Posted July 13, 2008 I am looking for Ft. Lauderdale hotels close to the cruise port. I have seen a lot about this on cc previously. My search started with "ft. lauderdale hotels" and then just "ft. lauderdale". I get the "temporarily down" message both ways. Try this link. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/search.php?searchid=10536868 I went to United States Ports of Call, then Florida Departures and used the search there for Fort Lauderdale Hotels. So, if the link above doesn't work, follow what I did. You should be good.
Krazy Kruizers Posted July 13, 2008 #5 Share Posted July 13, 2008 I have not had any problems with the search engines.
jtl513 Posted July 13, 2008 #6 Share Posted July 13, 2008 I just tried a simple search and got "temporarily down" too. I have not had any problems with the search engines. Oh yeah? Then you haven't been trying any Advanced Searches. That's been down for weeks ... maybe even months ... it's been so long I can't remember. Right now even the simple search is down too. vbmom87 Posted July 14, 2008 #8 Share Posted July 14, 2008 vbmom87: Thanks for the information on the link. That is exactly what I was looking for!!!!!! YW. At one time CC had two different searches. One was a general search for the entire website. You also had the option of searching within individual forums. They seem to have gotten rid of the general search (or I just can't locate it). The forum searches seem to be very "fussy." As I said, if you use too many words it will say "Temporarily down." Also, if you are looking somewhere that doesn't have that information you will get the same "Temporarily down" message instead of a "no matches found" message. Once I figured all this out, I am able to use the search feature virtually all the time.
LidoBuffetLine Posted July 14, 2008 #9 Share Posted July 14, 2008 The search is pretty crippled. CC really needs to prune the forum to make it usable. Way to many posts. I use google to search the boards. Go to google.com and type in site:boards.cruisecritic.com ft lauderdale hotels.
