I am cheap!

Hi

Is it cheaper to book bikes/etc online, or just wait until you get to Castaway Cay? Any other penny-pinching tips?

thanks for tips

The price is the same unless you get a package deal for bikes, floats, snorkeling etc.. all together, then it isnt worth it because what if you decide not to do something you've already bought, then you've wasted money.

we pay for each thing as we decide we would like to do it, according to the weather and how much energy we have. accept things like Parasailing or glass bottom boats and banana boats. Those should be booked in advance because they fill up.

Tips, well dont buy soda from a waiter at the clubs, theater or on deck because you can walk to the drink station on deck 9, 24 / 7 to get it free. we take it with us to all the shows and clubs so we arnt tempted to buy some there. Also if the kids or youself go to a movie and want snacks, we dont buy their popcorn, we stop by deck 9 for drinks and a couple slices of pizza, or a plate of fruit or a couple bags of chips and hot dogs or burgers or chicken strips. Plenty of snacks there so no need to buy from DCL.

Hard to cut costs when most things you don't have to pay extra for.

If the kids like cookies for snacks, dont buy in the store wait until evening and room service has warm chocolate chip cookies, order a dozen and you'll have some leftover for snacks the next day. These arnt on the menu but they do have them in the evenings.

Of course you pay a small tip for room service but with your cooler you can order an extra item or 2 and store there so you dont need to order and tip a second time.

Skip Bingo, it is expensive and there is plenty of other things to keep you busy on the ship.

sorry I dont have any big savers for you.

we do use a Disney chase card where you add up points and use the points for our ship board account. also if you pay on your cruise with it, no interest most of the time and sometimes they give $25. room credit if you book using it. Their promotions change alot.

But if you buy groceries and gas and pharmacy stuff, of course pay it off when the bill comes you can have a ton of dollars to use on your cruise.

That can pay for excursions, drinks, souvenirs, anything that shows up on your room credit.

also this is a cheap thing to do, not for me but I know people who do this. Once a cruise the DVC has a presentation and they usually have a drawing for a $500 on board credit. It takes about an hour. If they see only one or two people in there, they sit through the presentation in hopes of getting the money. if there are only 2 or 3 they usually give you the option of just spliting the money 2 or 3 ways. people always do that and it is applied ot your ship board account.
