chezbo99 Posted July 17, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 17, 2008 Is it possible to add 3rd and 4th passengers after the original booking? Is there a cutoff date that you must comply with? Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help. Its possible , but your cabin must fit 4, if it doesn't that can be changed, but only if the quad is available. If your cabin fits 4, no problem. S&S Cruisers 1983 Posted July 17, 2008 #4 Share Posted July 17, 2008 My brother once tried to add a 3rd person close to the sail date and the cruise line (don't think it was NCL) told him they were at max passenger capacity and couldn't add anyone. I thought they could fill every available bed.
Toyz711 Posted July 17, 2008 #5 Share Posted July 17, 2008 same thing here, it depends on how the ship is selling..if life boat capacity for that area is met..they won't do it. have to have a cabin for 4 and room on the passenger list. we tried to add MIL, we had 4 cabins,...3 with 2 people and 1 as a single. could not add her to any of the cabins. you will have to call NCL or your TA as soon as you know. don't wait too long to do it. beachchick Posted July 17, 2008 #6 Share Posted July 17, 2008 The way it works is that the absolute maximum capacity is set by the Coast Guard. There are far more cabins that will hold 3 or 4 than can be booked on any given cruise. That's to give people more choices when booking. Once the maximum number of 3rd/4th pax has been reached, that's it. The cruise line cannot add more pax to your cabin in that case. It's always best to try to add pax to your reservation ASAP because you never know when the maximum will be reached. They do not "fill every available bed"; they fill every allowable berth. Every single person onboard (including infants) counts toward the maximum number of souls for the life boats. That's the number that matters, not how many beds there are in every specific cabin. beachchick
cruizinwithkids Posted July 17, 2008 #7 Share Posted July 17, 2008 It can also be a simple revenue decision by NCL. I would recommend calling daily. We had a case a few years back where a friend wanted to take his two kids with him. There would be three in the cabin. They wouldn't let him book more than two to any cabin and since his kids were young, they wouldn't let him book either kid to a seperate cabin. As we already had a four rooms, we pulled an adult from one room and added him to one of the kids. A month or so later we added another passenger to the room where the adult was pulled. The reservations were a mess as far as who was booked with whom versus where they were actually staying. This was further complicated by the fact that the cruise had an issue and ended up being six days instead of seven. Everyone was refunded 1/7 of their cruise in the form of OBC plus a $50pp credit. Anyway, bottom line was everything was very complicated but people were added who were previously told, no.
