NCL Gem-Barcelona hotels

My husband and I are sailing on the Sept7th Norweigian Gem cruise. I would appreciate any hotel suggestions to stay at in Barcelona. We are flying in early and would like to stay near the port so that we can see the Las Ramblas area.

 

Has anyone stayed in this area or can suggest a good safe hotel?

We just returned from Barcelona and stayed 2 nights post cruise at:

http://www.hotelcontinental.com/home_ramblas.htm Excellent location!! 24 hour complimentary drinks, snacks, walking distance to Las Ramblas, Hard Rock Cafe etc.... Reasonable rates, clean rooms, not the Ritz...

I have been using tripadvisor for years and have also posted my reviews there as well.

We are staying at a friendlyrentals.com apartment pre for 3 nights and a hotel across from Sagrada Familia called Hispanos Siete Suiza post.

We sailed on the Gem June 8th and stayed pre cruise at a small, boutique hotel called the Duquesa de Cardona. It's only a couple blocks from the Columbus statue and the bottom of Las Ramblas and looks out on the port, with a lovely rooftop terrace, It's also only a few steps from the lovely marina-view restaurants.Walking around, even at night, we felt very safe. We would highly recommend it.

I like the Hotel Continental Rambala. It was full fo Gem and Jewel cruisers when were there. We got the balcony room and enjoyed people watching.
