Another Lan Air question

Hi. Does anyone know (Greatam - you know everything about air in SA) is Lan Air is thinking of cutting back flights between LAX and Santiago or BA? We keep hearing how AA is cutting their SA flights and wondered if we need to be worried about our Lan flights being cut. Thanks for any input.

AFAIK, LAN will still be running the nonstops from LAX to SCL, then of course on to BA. AA has been talking about another LANl codeshare through DFW this winter. I have my doubts. The air crews usually arrive SA sometime early morning from the USA. Then the return flight is at least 10:00PM or after. Gives the crew sufficient rest time to comply with airline, FAA and other requirements. AA wants to schedule a flight out of SA in the early afternoon. They would have to hold crews overnight to allow for rest time. UNLESS they have a tremendous amount of high dollar cargo, I think this would be a money looser and don't see it happening. But this would be an ADDITIONAL flight, not a cut.

I don't foresee LAN or AA canceling SA flights. May add a stop on the nonstops if the traffic becomes light. But overseas flights are the only profitable flights for US airlines right now. Most of them are trying to get MORE slots overseas to get additional revenue.
