Maderia - the gardens, the basket run, etc but DIY

Lanzarote - Cesar Manrique's House or the Cueva de los Verdes (Green Caves) and Jameos del Agua and throw in the Cactus Garden. Again worth while DIY as you don't get both on one tour. You might consider using the internet and organising a taxi or possibly a people carrier.

If you go on the tour then the cable car takes you to the toboggan run. If you do it yourself then you could get a bus or taxi. P&O prices for the cable car and run is £38. The run alone with coach transport there, is £34. There is another cable car and visit to the Monte Palace Gardens - £36.

DIY OTOH would enable you to visit the Botanical Gardens too. We also looked at Reid's Palace for afternoon tea. P&O is £40 and includes a coach. From the ship it is a walk of about 3/4 mile and the cost, IIRC is less than €40.

I posted an additional answer this morning but it has disappeared. if you search Maderia tourism you will find the info. Essentially the cable car is €10 single, €14.50 return. The basket is €12.50. To the ornamental gardens the cable car is €7.75 single. The cable cars start in the old town. The old town is a short walk. Do the maths, P&O charges £38 for coach, cable and basket or £36 for coach and cable.

we got the shuttle from the ship to the prom at Maderia where the station is, and you can buy a single ticket if you want to get the sledge down
