ldog Posted July 27, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 27, 2008 You are right. Sometimes, but not all times we did get change in USD. We didn't buy much though.

Yes, you can use US dollars almost anywhere. 1) Use credit card if possible – no change! 2) Be sure you bring a good collection of small bills - $5, $1, etc., so if you do get change, there won’t be much of it! 3) You mentioned coffee – I hope you’re looking for pre-roasted and ground. We tried pretty hard, both in Santa Marta and Cartagena, to find some un-roasted beans, and struck out completely. I’m sure it was available somewhere, but we couldn’t find any. diboja Posted August 10, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted August 10, 2008 Thanks Idog and edgew for your comments... as far as the coffee is concerned we would want to buy roasted coffee in either beans or ground. We are going to Colombia and Costa Rica and I am not sure which country produces better coffee???? Probably on par with each other.
