cherylw2001 Posted October 19, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 19, 2004 Hi, my family and I are going on the Ecstasy out of Galveston in December. I just got my papers and we are on the Verandah deck. Is this a good place to be? Will we be assigned to the closest dining room or the one at the other end? How is this deck for motion ? Thanks for any input Cheryl
ginag Posted October 19, 2004 #2 Share Posted October 19, 2004 :) Hi Cheryl....Wish I could help with your question....I haven't been on the Ecstasy yet, but will sail her in December too. When is your sail date? You mentioned your papers...have you already received your docs? Happy Sailing!
Stircrzy Posted October 20, 2004 #3 Share Posted October 20, 2004 I can't answer about the Ecstasy since I'm waiting for Gina's review before my March cruise. On the Celebration in 2000, I had a Cat 11 on Verandah deck (Richard Simmons was my next door neighbor...weird story!). The dining room was not far away and the motion was minimal. You'll be fine...enjoy your cruise!

Thanks for any input Cheryl
All cabins on Verandah deck are very much forward on the ship. We just came back from a cruise on the Fascination which is the same class as Ectasy. we never noticed any motion during the times we were at the forward end of the ship, but the seas were very calm. In rougher weather those cabins would experience a little more motion. You will be assigned a dining room according to your seating time. Both dining rooms are on the same deck. The aft dining room had first early and first late seatings, the forward dining room had second early and second late seatings. Since we had requested second late seating, we ended up going from our cabin, which was as far aft as you can get, to the forward dining room which is actually midship. kajsb Posted October 20, 2004 #5 Share Posted October 20, 2004 I've sailed the Ecstasy 3 times and on all 3 I had a cabin on the Verandah deck. All the way forward and very quiet. I never noticed much movement. If I sail on a Fantasy class again, I will get another cabin on the Verandah deck. It's luck of the draw on the dining room. I've had the rear dining room twice and the forward one once.
Cards5440 Posted October 20, 2004 #6 Share Posted October 20, 2004 We had a room on the Verandah Deck when we sailed te Ecstacy, it was a balcony suite. The deck is probably the quietest on the ship as there are not many guest rooms located on this level and you can say it's a bit secluded from the rest of the ship, so the commotion i the hallways is minimal. It is by no means out of the way of common areas though. Just a low traffic area :) Enjoy!.
skiorcruise Posted October 21, 2004 #7 Share Posted October 21, 2004 I'll agree with all of the above. Verandah deck was quiet, close to activities (up one deck to the spa, down one to Lido deck pools and bars, down two to showroom and casino). Motion was noticable, but not excessive. Swells were so big we had to skip a tender ride to port (too dangerous to board tenders), but nothing to bother us in the cabin. One thing to note - the forward elevators on the starboard side only went up to the Lido Deck. The port side elevators and the Atrium elevators went to the Verahdah and Spa decks.
