6 Hour Layover in Miami-What to do?

For anyone who really knows Miami....If our flights operate as scheduled we'll arrive there at 11:10am and don't depart until 5:30. I don't think we have enough time to rent a car for a few hours but looking for something to do besides hang out in the airport. Anybody have any good info?

A coworker suggested hopping an airport area hotel's shuttle and having lunch there then taking the shuttle back to the airport. Any other ideas?

It really only leaves you about 4 hours, since you'll have to go through security again once you leave the gate area. This is a hard one!

Perhaps your coworker's suggestion is a good one!

Not that it is cultural or anything, but you could do bayside market. Shopping, entertainment and lots of resturants. We enjoyed it for what it was.

Really depends on what day/time you get into MIA. Traffic can be horrible at times, and like others mentioned so can the security. If you are feeling brave, head over to South Beach (10 Miles from MIA) to grab a bite on the beach.
