Carnival Splendor with Kids

We've booked the Carnival Splendor Mex Riviera cruise for next July.

We did the Disney Magic this summer and the kids loved it -- BUT DS 5 would NOT do the kids clubs without us. Ugh! He just was not interested in staying... I think he was overwhelmed by the crowds or something. We took him in for some specific activities and they had no problem with us hanging out with him in there for those activites. With the characters, Dance parties, etc. etc. all around the ship, we certainly had no problem finding plenty to do as a family and had a GREAT time on the cruise.

We had already booked the Splendor before our trip on the Disney Magic. I am wondering, though, if next summer he again is insisteing that he does not want to do the kids club (Camp Carnival), if we will be able to find plenty of things to do as a family on the Splendor? Does Camp Carnival allow family members in with their kids to participate in certain activities? Are the shows on Carnival kid appropriate? What have been you favorite family actvities?

Thanks so much!
