G'ma Posted April 23, 2009 #76 Share Posted April 23, 2009 I won 2300.00 one time....but not on slots...I don't play slots at all. It was at the Caribbean Stud table.... Had to force myself to walk away and not give it all back.... As for regulation, there is no regulating body because the ship is in international waters. Here is an interesting article about the attempt to keep 'em honest: http://www.cruise-casinos.com/rules.htm

TahoeBob Posted April 23, 2009 #79 Share Posted April 23, 2009 Wonder if Carnival rig there slots to their favour. [/QUOTNo carnival does not rig the slots in there favor. When I was working in the casino industry in Nevada, a good friend of mine worked slots on cruise ships for some time. carnival does not rig them in there favor, but all slots favor the house regardless where you play them. Heirloom Posted April 23, 2009 #80 Share Posted April 23, 2009 Don't ever believe ANYONE who tries to tell you that they are regular winners in ship casinos. Some gamblers have such a habit problem, they may actually believe themselves when exaggerating ! The ship casinos are TOTALLY unregulated ! They make their own rules ! And ANY winning on a ship is rare. You'll never experience tighter slot machines than theirs.....anyplace else. Buyer beware !!!
Joysands71 Posted April 23, 2009 #81 Share Posted April 23, 2009 and someone hit the 2 cent slots for another BMW. Last Cruise in March 09 - I won over 5K on the conquest. Somehow I left the ship 2K down! I need to learn when to stop. But in my defense... I won that over 7 days... not all at once. So I was up and down! I play pennies and nickles always the max! Going again May 17th....

jpg1747 Posted April 23, 2009 #86 Share Posted April 23, 2009 I almost always leave the casino a winner at the end of a cruise. It may not be a lot of money, but I rarely leave any of mine behind. I'm not greedy, I'm just there for a little entertainment so a small win is enough for me. The one time I did win big was when I hit a royal flush on a poker machine for $1000. happyshelly Posted April 23, 2009 #87 Share Posted April 23, 2009 Couple years ago on the Destiny, my husband wanted to take a nap before dinner so i went to the casino with $20. I hit for $483 and called it quits. Went back to the cabin to get ready for dinner and told hubby what happened,so on our way to the dining room i showed him what machine i hit on. Well i put in a $10 bill and i hit for another $862. After dinner went back to the cabin with the winnings and spread the money on the bed and took a picture of it. So i paid down the S&S account. Oh yeah almost forgot i got an Ocean players t-shirt that cruise. Michele

Traveling Bob Posted April 23, 2009 #92 Share Posted April 23, 2009 Everyone knows that with today's computerized slots, the owners can easily set the payout odds to whatever they want. But I beleive that cruise ships change them as the cruise progresses. Is this just my experience and am I imagining this? Or do more people seem to win in the first couple of days, getting people interested, and then no one seems to win towards the end? And those who have won, put it all back in! A land based casino couldn't get away with this, as new people are arriving every day. But with a captive group, this certainly works.
luverly Posted April 23, 2009 #93 Share Posted April 23, 2009 I bought 5 scratch off's at bingo $1 a piece and won $100. I was even on slots the whole cruise so I sat down one more time on the last night and won $400.
richfret Posted April 24, 2009 #94 Share Posted April 24, 2009 Now see, I look at it differently than most of the Cruise Critics who replied. I take my winnings and then subtract what I put into it and what ever is left is my actual winnings. Any one can have winnings if you don't count your bets. The trick is to win more than you lose. Good luck on that!
Nikgirlcruiser Posted April 24, 2009 #95 Share Posted April 24, 2009 On our Honeymoon on the Glory we had never gambled on slots. Hubby sat down at a quarter slot and won within a couple spins. $400 and it all went to the sail and sign!
citcatt1 Posted April 24, 2009 #96 Share Posted April 24, 2009 I won $1200.00 on the Legend a few years ago, all on the same slot machine 400.00 2x and 200.00 2x. That was a great vacation.

A land based casino couldn't get away with this, as new people are arriving every day. But with a captive group, this certainly works. Possible, but HIGHLY unlikely. Each and every machine would need to be opened and reprogrammed one at a time. This takes a few minutes for each machine, and would surely get noticed, even if done in the middle of the night. And I worked many months in a MAJOR Vegas casino, so I know what I'm talking about. The key point, as already mentioned, is the lack of regulation. Cruise ship casinos are guaranteed to pay out less than in Vegas or Monaco, but eventually every machine will hit. Craps and blackjack are always the players best odds. Rule of thumb, NEVER gamble with money you're not willing to give away. So have fun playing whatever game of chance you enjoy, but using your sail and sign as a casino tab is a bad, bad idea. Play with cash, and when it's gone, go entertain yourself elsewhere.

Thanks Mikil Last year on the Legend I won with the first $1.00 pull $1,350.00, my husband then it $800.00 on dollar slots and then again I hit $500.00 on the 4th $.25 pull I then another $400.00 and then my husband another $250.00 all within 3 hours. We were over joyed and when we arrived back home we booked our cruise on the Victory for Sept.13th of this year. So yes you can win, but I will agree it is few and far between on most cruise ships.
