danilynn17 Posted August 3, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 3, 2008 My fiance and I are looking to take an Alaskan cruise next summer (we will be married by then, but this won't be our honeymoon- that will be Aruba!). He is an avid golfer and I picked up the sport as well. He has a goal of golfing in all 50 states. Thus far he has 35, and we figure a cruise is the best way to get Alaska! Of course, that's not the sole reason we want to go to Alaska. Has anyone done one of the golf excursions? Any recommendations? We're just starting out the process of research this cruise, so at this point in time we're not even sure what itinerary we're interested in or what lines. Thanks! Yukon Posted August 3, 2008 #2 Share Posted August 3, 2008 The golf excursion from Skagway takes you to a good course a couple of miles from me in Whitehorse. http://www.alaskaexcursions.com/golf/yukon.htm (or you can rent a car and do it independently). mytime53 Posted August 3, 2008 #3 Share Posted August 3, 2008 If you are doing a one-way cruise and have any extra time in Alaska, you have several options in Anchorage, Wasilla/Palmer, and Fairbanks. I think I've also seen something about golf around the Denali area, and there was one on the Kenai Peninsula, although I'm not sure of it's present status. bottom-dragger Posted August 3, 2008 #4 Share Posted August 3, 2008 wrangell has an interesting course. not too mention the 20' high boulder in the middle of the second hole, but there is a a drop rule for when a raven flies in and steals your ball.
