96740 Posted August 4, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 4, 2008 I just got off the P&O web page and the first thing I noticed was that all there ships are either prior Princess or Holland America models, or those identical ships were built for P&O and the others simultaneously. I've heard of cruise companies purchasing older ships, but some of these seem to new. Roy.
Druke I Posted August 4, 2008 #2 Share Posted August 4, 2008 I don't believe that is quite accurate, in regards to P&O (UK). Oceana is the former Ocean Princess, Artemis is the former Royal Princess, and Arcadia was laid down originally for either Cunard or Holland America, but transferred to P&O before completion Ventura is a knock-off of a Princess design, but was laid down for P&O. Both Oriana and Aurora were laid down for P&O. P&O (Aus) is a different story. All their ships had previous owners, usually Princess, but Carnival also. daiB Posted August 5, 2008 #4 Share Posted August 5, 2008 Thanks. Yea, I read a little deeper into the bio. Owned by Carnival. Figures. Also remember that Princess was owned by P&O before the merger with Carnival, that is how Oceana changed lines. Oriana and Aurora are one off builds, similar in some ways but built 4 years apart. :):)Happy Cruising:):) Dai
