what is the best way to get from heathro to southhampton? How long will it take?

1. Book the ship's transfer...

2. Take a taxi...

3. Book a car...

4. Go on car rental...

5. Take a bus then a taxi...

6. Take a bus then a train then a taxi...

Depends somehow to your budget, your arrival time, if your are able to handle transfers, your cruise terminal etc... you cannot say it generally.

We love to use a car rental but this selection depends to the cruise terminal and day of travel.

It should by car solutions about 1.15-1.45 hrs travel time, depending to route condition and airport terminal and cruise terminal.

As said above there is no universal best way, the main parameters like speed, cost, Heathrow terminal, number of passengers, luggage weight and number you need to make a judgement on, compromising in a way only you can decide .

Of the myriad of options open to you, the most popular options are private taxi/van and the only direct public transport the National Express buses.

A taxi/van should cost around $US300 and take about 75 minutes, the buses run broadly hourly at a fraction of the cost and take a couple of hours followeed by a short 5 minute taxi ride. Depending on which terminal you're arriving at, it can be tedious getting to the bus station at Heathrow and the theoritical luggage allowance is 2 bags per person, neither of which should be heavier than 44lbs
