CMM Posted August 10, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2008 On the deck plans there is a cream area in the aft corner of decks 8-12 with a door from the cabin hallway. Princess customer service said this is a balcony area that you can get to from the hall, but in doing a search on the boards it was mentioned to be an emergency stairway. There are no stair symbols though. Anyone gone in this area?
cindep Posted August 10, 2008 #2 Share Posted August 10, 2008 If I remember the area you are talking about, on the Crown it was indeed an emergency stairwell. The only time we used it was during muster drill.
JerseyGuys Posted August 10, 2008 #3 Share Posted August 10, 2008 I believe it's a crew passageway/stairwell. I was on the CB Deck 8 Emerald E731 and we used the stairwell for the muster but otherwise its for crew use only.
fun and breezes 2 Posted August 11, 2008 #4 Share Posted August 11, 2008 We stayed in Baja 749 on the Crown. We were the last cabin of the aft hallway. Next to us was a door that led to a crew stairway. We saw it because we used the stairway during the muster, but it was not an area normally used by the passengers. I believe this is the cream area you are talking about and it is not balcony.
felicemmp Posted August 11, 2008 #5 Share Posted August 11, 2008 We have been on the CB in aft cabin B748 on two cruises, right next to that door. It is an emergency stairway that takes you down to deck 7 right outside of Club Fusion, where we met for muster drill. There is no balcony out there. swom Posted August 11, 2008 #6 Share Posted August 11, 2008 We were on the Crown last year and had C753 which is an aft balcony. The area you are talking about is a stairwell that we used during the fire drill. That's the only time I saw that door open. They were doing some work there though during our cruise. We heard a lot of scraping and hammering while we were in our cabin. It was quite annoying. Did it ruin our cruise. HECK NO!!! We had a ball. But we always do, no matter what. There's so such thing as a bad cruise.
