Really nervous for the SKY on 9/19-9/22 after certain reviews

Too bad you can't get your money back.!! I think NCL needs to be repaired totally, and I mean everywhere!

I am planning to bring my 8yo daughter and 77yo nana (who will turn 78 the day we depart from BOS) on the SKy for a 3 night cruise. This is a 1st for all of us. I want it to be special for a couple of reasons but nervous from the reviews I read. The first reason is that is its our first cruise (me at 27), 2nd it will be my nana's 78 birthday, and lastly but most important because I wanted to get my nana away (mentally) being that she lost both of her 2 oldest daughters (my mom and aunt) who died of Breast and Ovarian Cancer (both at age 56). I don't want anyone getting nasty with her nor me, because this is a mini vaca for us and I want to keep my cool.

 

I just hope the hospitality is good, the food is fine, and the excursions I booked (Sea Explorer, Snorkeling for me and my daughter, and everglades back to FLL) is exciting for all of us. One thing that caught my attention is the BINGO which i think will be really fun for all 3 of us.

 

Can anyone ease my mind since we are cruising in 3 weeks?

I'm going on 9/28 and have no doubts we will have a great time. Always have on all cruises.

Don't let the reviews worry you. The thing with Cruise Critic is that it would be a terribly boring place if everyone just talked about how wonderful everything was. People come here to see what things they should be wary of, or what not to expect too much of. I was able to make a fairly long list of things I didn't like when NCL surveyed me, yet I had a great time. Just because there are things that could use improvement does not mean you're not going to love the cruise. Take everything with a grain of seasalt and form your own opinions. I wish you all a fantastic time after your hardships.

Sorry you didn't enjoy your NCL cruise. NCL is not for everyone, me included, but a lot of people prefer NCL. Your NCL cruise may have had some short commings and you were dissappointed, I can understand that. To say that NCL needs to be repaired totally, everywhere is ridiculous and doesn't help others that are considering booking a cruise. Specifically what were the 3 or 4 items that you were not happy about.

What is your favorite cruise line and why?

I do hope that your next cruise is more to your liking.

Having sailed many times I can honestly tell you that you really won't notice anything negative as others may,that have cruised before. I cruised on this ship on 8/15/08. It was not the best, nor the worst. The staff was wonderful. The casino is very small and very hot. The food is a hit and miss. I only ate at the buffet and Crossings, but did try the Italian place once. I would not recommend it, the food was horrible as the service. Extremely slow. I would highly recommend the comedian, he is great. The Newlywed/Not so newlywed game show is very entertaining although it could be too racy for your daughter. I wrote a review on the members review area but you have to remember, just like life it is what you yourself make of it. I would not sail this ship again but we still had a great time. They do have sea sickness pills at the information desk in the atrium open 24 hours a day.

Why does someone have to be labled a troll for having a negative opinion? I just sailed the Sky and would never get on that ship again. I love the freestyle cruise idea and did see one that does the British Isles. I would love to sail there with a freestyle if someone could honestly tell me if NCL's other ships does not have the problems that the Sky did when I was on it just this past week.

It was my 15th on NCL and 22nd cruise overall, My only complaint was it was too hot in the Bahamas and that's not NCL's fault.

 

None of my 22 cruises have been perfect. I've been on Windstar, RCCL, Carnival Celebrity too.

 

Not perfect but damn good for the money.

We took the 4 day cruise on the

Sky leaving 8-11. I have not 1 complaint. The 4 of us had a great time, all crew members friendly and helpful. All the food was great, entertainment fun. Ignore the complainers as all their problems seem to be fixed. J

I didn't say someone was a troll for having a negative opinion. Did you read the quote from this poster? If not, here is is:

This was from a first time poster who has not posted anything since and did not give any reasons for a statement that was made" If someone has a negative opinion, specific reasons would be helpful to add not just a statement like was made. I don't know what type of problems you had with the Sky but there have also been some good reviews also. I hope you have a better experience if you sail NCL again but I still stand by my orginal statement about the poster.
