pool crowded on port days?

Will the pools be crowded on port days? Although this will be our fifth cruise, we've always gone on excursions so haven't seen the pools when we are in port. This time it looks like we will be going ashore only for shopping trips and will have a lot of time on the ship. If we can sleep late on those days and still get a spot by the pool, this might be a plus. I tried to do a search but kept getting error.

On our last cruise we did 6 ports and stayed onboard 1 day and the pool area was very pleasant and much less crowded!

Port days are the best days to spend on a ship. Even at ports that don't have much of a draw, a lot of passengers go ashore leaving the ship very empty. Pools will not be crowded, restaurants will have faster service, public rooms will be empty, etc.

We have a stop on an upcoming trip that we're not thrilled about and are considering just enjoying the ship that day.

On our last cruise we arrived in Nassau late and decided not to bother going to the beach as planned. We went to the pool instead and we were the only two people there! It was fantastic. To be on a ship with 2000 people and be the only two in the pool and hot tubs was the best. It only lasted for a while but it was a great afternoon...
