adstz Posted August 18, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 18, 2008 Has anyone tried this line? They explore the rivers in the midwest United States. 4 to 10 day cruises with only 200 onboard and all inclusive - no tipping allowed. The prices are $1900 and up. Two cabin types only - picture window or small deck. My husband and I are looking at this as our next cruise. Please let me know anything good or bad that you have experienced. MSEm Posted August 19, 2008 #2 Share Posted August 19, 2008 I visited the barge in 2002. It is different from the big ocean ships. 1. Cabins. If you can splurge for the higher cabin. You will have a French Window that opens. 2. Bath with tub. Almost the size of baths in many homes. 3. Tons of storage. 4. Buffet or family style meal service. Open snack bar with soft drinks, coffee, tea. All meals included on the barge. No fancy gourmet, but good home stye with some regional specialities. Good enough for my friend to gain 5 pounds in 6 days. 5. Tours included in the price. 6. On board entertainment will be locals experts where you are visiting or part of the crew. 7. Dress: Casual, even for most dinners. 6. Usually about 40-50% repeat guest. 7. NON PASSPORT REQUIRED for the barge. 8. You may have transportation back to where you boarded or reverse. I hope to go exploring with the RiverBarge soon. MSEm
