PV, Cabo, Mazatlan - whale watching

We are doing the Mexican Riveria cruise in February and I understand there will be whale watching opportunities. My husband and I are divers and will be doing one dive in Cabo. I know that whale watching is popular in Cabo but wanted to find out if the other ports have whale watching.

Puerto Vallarta will also have whales. My personal opinion is that it is not as good as Cabo. Feb is the prime month for whales in Cabo. While you will probably see them from your dive boat, it will be nothing like an actual 3 hr whale watching trip. Bummer you can't do both but that would be really pushing it time wise.

I had read in the message boards that you could take a water taxi out to see the whales. anyone hear or done this?

We leave on December 14th, and have a tour booked in PV. Hoping the whales have arrived too!:D
