VicRock Posted August 20, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2008 In looking at excursions for our cruise, hubby and I would like to explore Halifax on our own. With Celebrity, one of the excursions is a hop-on/hop-off bus. I can't seem to find any info on this. Is this only associated with the cruise lines? or is it an option available to anyone visiting Halifax? Any links or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. uppitycats Posted August 20, 2008 #2 Share Posted August 20, 2008 Here's the link I'm using to plan our day in Halifax. We'll not be going on any of our ship's excursions either: http://www.halifaxinfo.com/

c breeze Posted August 25, 2008 #5 Share Posted August 25, 2008 it's call FRED www.halifax.ca/metrotransit/fred/html service runs 7days a week 10:30-5pm...until Oct 24th... Jef FRED is a free hop on hop off bus. I believe there is only one bus, and it makes a loop every 40 minutes or so. I have read that it can be very crowded, and there can be a long wait. The tour offered through the cruise lines is a double decker hop on hop off. There are several of them running at a time, and I believe they pick up every 20 minutes. http://www.doubledeckertours.com/ I believe this can only be booked through the cruise lines, when ships are in port, but I could be wrong. Golfinesq Posted August 29, 2008 #6 Share Posted August 29, 2008 I was in Halifax a couple of weeks ago off Explorer of the Seas and noticed that on the pier the also sold tickets at a Gray Line counter for the hop on hop off bus. Hope this is helpful.
