jacksmom09 Posted September 1, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 1, 2008 Hi! We are planning on going to Dunn's river Falls then, we would like to go to a nice, non-crowded, family friendly, pretty beach with maybe some snorkeling (we have our own snorkel stuff)? Which Jamaica beach would be best?

cruiser2202 Posted September 12, 2008 #3 Share Posted September 12, 2008 We went to Dunns River Falls, then to Reggae Beach with Marva Shaw. I'll attach some pics. We have been to this beach twice and loved it. Very secluded, no tourists. We took our kids there and they loved it too. You can snorkle to the left side or to the right side of the beach - I thought the right side was a little better. The snorkeling is okay - mostly coral formations and some small fish. Not lots to see, but enough to keep us happy. There was a boat docked at the beach and there were tons of fish under the boat. We found lots of cool shells in the water at the beach (on the right side). There are restrooms and a small bar and grill. The grill was not open on the day we were there in May because they were getting ready for a big Reggae concert that night. The bar was open and Troy was our bartender both times we were there. Loved drinking Red Stripe in Jamaica. This beach is owned by the Rastafari, so do not go there if you don't have an open mind. We have never felt unsafe there and cannot wait to go back. Both times we were there (last year and this year), we practically had the beach to ourselves. It was incredible. You will not be harassed on this beach by anyone. The locals keep to themselves and there are no vendors. I highly recommend Marva Shaw at www.knowjamaica.com for a tour guide.
CruisingCarolina Posted September 14, 2008 #4 Share Posted September 14, 2008 I was wondering if any of the beaches have loungers to lay on or tables & chairs ? or would we need to do a daypass at a hotel to get that? how about Bamboo Beach ? has anyone done that ? Thanks
