How far away from a Rutts Hut would I be in the Newark/Cape Liberty area? I might make a day trip to check on some ships leaving port and am interested in getting a world famous hot dog while in NJ.

This is the quickest route according to MSN; there is also the shortest route option available that used local roads only.

 

Maybe locals will have an even easier route.

a few miles west of Newark is Charlie's Hot Dogs in Kenilworth, they serve an Italian hot dog that is deep fried and served in a half of a loaf of round Italian Bread with fried potatoes, onions and peppers....its worth the trip.

We live 15 minutes away from Rutt's Hutt. The food is ok, although overpriced. Can't imagine anyone making a special trip to eat there. The place is really a dump.

This thread really makes me realize that most people (me included) will travel really long distances to experience something that the locals don't appreciate. I have been to Rutts Hut maybe once in my life and I have lived within 20 miles of the place my entire life. How many New Yorkers have been to the top of the Eiffel tower but have never been to the top of the Empire State Building? Maybe I will have to go to Rutts Hut for lunch tomorrow.;)

I looked at pics of the Hot Dogs and they really don't look appealing.......sorry to those who love them. I just don't think I would be interested in a deep fried hot dog.
