Here are the directions from MSN maps -

14 Port Terminal Boulevard (Cape Liberty)

Bayonne, NJ

 

To:

Rutts Hut

417 River Rd

Clifton, NJ

 

Total Distance: 17.8 Miles

Estimated Total Time: 22 minutes

 

Directions:

 

Start: Depart 14 Port Terminal Blvd, Bayonne, NJ 07002-5038 on SR-440 (North) 0.8 mile

 

1: Turn RIGHT onto Ramp towards I-78 / New Jersey Turnpike / I-95 0.7 mile

 

2: Keep LEFT to stay on Ramp towards Turnpike North-South / Newark 0.6 mile

 

3: *Toll road* Merge onto I-78 [New Jersey Tpke Ext] 2.4 miles

 

4: *Toll road* Turn RIGHT onto Ramp towards I-95 / Turnpike North / US-1 / US-9 / US-22 / New'k Airport 0.2 mile

 

5: *Toll road* Take Ramp (LEFT) onto I-95 [New Jersey Tpke] towards I-95 / Turnpike North 7.8 miles

 

6: At exit 16W, turn RIGHT onto Ramp towards RT-3 / Secaucus / Rutherford / Sports Complex 0.8 mile

 

7: Keep LEFT to stay on Ramp towards RT-3 / Sports Complex / Rutherford / North Service Rd. 0.3 mile

 

8: Take Ramp (RIGHT) onto SR-3 towards RT-3 / Rutherford 3.0 miles

 

9: Turn RIGHT onto Ramp towards RT-21 / Passaic / Newark 0.1 mile

 

10: Take Ramp (LEFT) onto SR-21 towards RT-21 / Passaic 0.5 mile

 

11: At exit 10A, turn RIGHT onto Ramp towards River Rd South / Clifton 0.1 mile

 

12: Turn LEFT (West) onto Peekay Dr, then immediately turn LEFT (South) onto CR-624 [River Rd] 0.3 mile

 

End: Arrive 417 River Rd, Clifton, NJ 07014-1520

 

This is the quickest route according to MSN; there is also the shortest route option available that used local roads only.

 

Maybe locals will have an even easier route.

 

Let us know how you like them; I’ve been looking for a good reason to stop there.

Why not make a whole day of it. The 5th Annual New Jersey Hot Dog Tour is Saturday, September 20th.

Personally, I'm not wild about Rutts.

 

I cant make it for the tour but did make note off all the spots listed. What does a day like that do to your stomach?:eek:

This thread really makes me realize that most people (me included) will travel really long distances to experience something that the locals don't appreciate. I have been to Rutts Hut maybe once in my life and I have lived within 20 miles of the place my entire life. How many New Yorkers have been to the top of the Eiffel tower but have never been to the top of the Empire State Building? Maybe I will have to go to Rutts Hut for lunch tomorrow.;)
