French side of St. Maartens

Years ago we went their & there was a farmers market type thing, or flea market or whatever you want to call it. We would like to go there again this time, but do not want to go by way of an official tour. Just take a taxi there & back to the ship. But the problem is, I don't remember exactly where it is, or what exactly it was called. Does anyone in here know?

There is an open air flea market in Marigot on the French side. You can get a taxi easily at the pier.

The open market is by the water right next to the taxi stand. You can tell the driver to drop you off at the market and it will be very easy to get a taxi back to the ship.

What did the open air market have to offer?

The fish market was the happening place when we were there one morning at 6:30. There were plenty of spices and fresh produce as well. We left by 7 so the only vendors who were there were the ones selling parishables pretty much.

There is also a GREAT french bakery just down the street from the open air mkt. (too the left if u face the water). Yummy!!
