BigJon Posted September 7, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 7, 2008 I've been to the Bahamas and the Western Carribean, but not the Eastern Carribean. Between Tortola and St. Croix, which one do you like better and why. Thanks in advance for the info..........jonathan
m steve Posted September 14, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 14, 2008 I tthink Tortola is boring and all there seems to do is take a boat to the Baths on Gorda. There are a lot of nice restaurants and shops in Christianstad and some stuff in Frederickstad but not as much. There is a good tour of the Cruzan rum factory and a tasting and if you are liquor shopping you get a larger duty free allowance in the USVI. Also double other DF purchases than other Caribbean islands.
Lard Greystoke Posted October 18, 2008 #3 Share Posted October 18, 2008 I've only been to Tortola. If you like nature it's got that. Not crowded, some nice beaches on the north shore - most people need to take a taxi as the hills in the middle of the island are quite steep. It's pretty, relaxing, lots of photo ops. Pyrate13 Posted October 18, 2008 #4 Share Posted October 18, 2008 If you want lots of shopping or activities, Tortola and the BVI is not for you. Their motto is "Nature's Little Secrets". That's the beauty of the BVI, let's hope it stays that way. I fear it won't though, I've seen lots of changes in ten years. When the day comes that all of the islands have all of the same shopping, jet skis, banana boats and parasails why even bother going to different one's?
