cropbug Posted October 26, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 26, 2004 What is the best way to get to Harrison Cave? We will be in Barbados on a Thursday and have no interest in any beaches (other than the view). Can we just get a taxi to take us and then get one to come back to the ship? Are there any other attractions that we shouldn't miss while in Barbados? Thanks!!
pholter Posted October 26, 2004 #2 Share Posted October 26, 2004 You can get a taxi or just a shorter island tour that could be cheaper than just the taxi too and from. I just did the Best of Barbados tour- lasts from 9am-5pm (ish). You go to Harrison's Cave, the Wildlife Preserve (you can actually see and walk right to the animals- very cute green monkeys!), driving through Bathsheba, seeing alot of landmarks, lunch at a local spot, boarding a glass bottom boat to see a bunch of coral, fish, and shipwrecks, swimming with turtles, and snorkling. It's a jam packed day, but so worth it. It was the best island of our trip! We booked through Glory Tours- they take groups of 8-10 in an air conditioned van and they make picture stops here and there for you, too. Sarah and Ricky were absolutely great to work with.... Sunniebgi Posted October 27, 2004 #3 Share Posted October 27, 2004 I would also recommend an island tour.. obviously one that includes Harrison's cave. Since you don't want to do the beach, an island tour would give you the highlights. St. John's Parish Church, Gun Hill Signal Station. Farley Hill National Park (all landmarks). If your into flowers, the Andromeda Gardens or Flower Forest would be good as well. and also Orhid World. Sunbury Plantation House is a great representation of an old Barbadian Great House and grounds. Once you've done that tour, you could go into Bridgetown (spend a little money),, but more importantly see some historical buildings. Churches, The oldest Jewish Synagogue in the Western Hemisphere.
