Conquest casino question

I have read different things on the boards and wasn't sure if it varried by ship and/or cruise line.

In the casino on Carnival's Conquest, where exactly does the money come from to for a passenger to gamble with...meaning, is $100 charged to the S&S card and they give you $100 in chips? do you have to bring your own cash? can you bring travelers cheques and get them cashed to gamble with?

Just curious if any or all of these methods was the way to plan for.

Thanks

You can take cash into the casino or use your S&S card. If you use your S&S card they take on a 3% service charge and they'll give you chips. You can actually turn around and cash in the chips or they'll probably give you cash if you want to play the slots. I just take cash and keep it in the safe until I head to the casino.

Don't know about the Conquest but on the Elation if you use your S & S card the cashier will ask whether you are playing on the tables or on the slots. If you require chips for the tables you are given a slip stating however much money you wanted and you take it to one of the tables to get your chips. If you want to play slots she gave you coins or tokens. I asked about just getting cash because I didn't know for sure what I wanted to do and was told that you have to get one or the other. They cannot give out paper money.

As mentioned before you can get cash on your S&S card WITH a charge.

Of course you can bring cash. I usually bring travelers checks and cash them as needed for gambling and shore use. You can cash them at the purshers office without a problem.
