luckiestmitw Posted September 10, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 10, 2008 Hi, Has anyone who has sailed on ROS been upgraded? It is quite common on the P&O and Princess ships that frequent our waters but wasn't sure if RCCL do the same. Regards Sandie:)
wrp96 Posted September 10, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 10, 2008 I was upgraded for my sailing on Rhapsody to Alaska this past summer, but upgrades on RCCL are not common.

Hi wrp96, Thanks for the reply...what was your original booking(deck, cabin) and what did you end up with? Also, thanks for the great review and photos...I enjoyed them very much..I'll be sure to post a review of our Rhapsody cruise on here as well..just as an Aussies perspective.;) :) Regards Sandie:)
moojar Posted September 11, 2008 #4 Share Posted September 11, 2008 Hi Sandie, This will be an interesting time! The combination of the sudden dramatic plunge in the AUD, the (presumably) high percentage of Australians cruising on Rhapsody out of Australia, and all fares etc. payable in USD. I wonder if many locals will get to final payment date and bail out instead of coughing up the "extra" 20% or so? Your 70-day final payment date is 23 days away? Will be interested to see if there are some good discounts going on that cruise in around 20 days from now! I thankfully paid my final payment just as the AUD slide began, so I'm kinda hoping for a half-empty ship and some cheap upgrades! :D But then again, if I were to cancel now I would be getting around 15% ROI. Hmmmm. ;-) Cheers.

Upgrades are more likely with a guarantee than with a specific cabin, but still not common on RCCL.

Hi Neil, Yes the Aussie dollar is looking a bit sad....the way it is going I may have to rashen my cocktail quota.:p  Luckily we paid the majority of our cruise fare in our deposit, we paid the balance a month ago but still ended up paying an additional $150 to make up for the Aussie dollar slump. Not too bad I suppose...at the time I thought 3,000 deposit was a bit much...but thankfully we paid as much as we did when the dollar was high. Hope not too many people get stung. Hopefully the dollar will rise again..or we may be drinking tea and coffee for 10 days. :D Regards Sandie:)

Hi wrp96, I'd say then that our chances of an upgrade are pretty slim, we have been allocated two ajoining cabins as we are a family of six. What a great surprise that would have been to end up in the Owners Suite...oh well I can dream.;) :) Regards Sandie:)
