queenL Posted October 27, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 27, 2004 I'd really love to go on a whale watch tour but I'm torn between another excursion. Besides, won't the whales be visible from the deck of the cruise ship?
pholter Posted October 27, 2004 #2 Share Posted October 27, 2004 Depending on the time of the year you arrive, there could be no whales to spot from what I was told when there last week. They migrate when the temperature changes, etc. We definately didn't see any of them, but we spent most of the day learning about their wonderful/friendly island from our tour with Reyno. If you go on the Alaska cruise, I can guarantee you'll see whales though :)
E. Lee DeGolyer 3rd Posted October 29, 2004 #3 Share Posted October 29, 2004 I took a landlubber's trip to Guadeloupe and Martinique with a friend back in January of this year and took the ferry from Martinique back to Guadeloupe. I stayed on deck for most of the trip and kept looking for whale spouts while I was on top. I didn't see a one. However, you might be lucky. paride55 Posted November 14, 2004 #4 Share Posted November 14, 2004 I heard sperm whales are there year round. except older males whom are only there in winter. Must be breeding time.but some of the other species like humpbacks are only there in winter. Different kind of dolphins also. Try a DOMINICA web site . http://www.delphis.dm/home.htm
