RASHOPPER2 Posted September 22, 2008 #58 Share Posted September 22, 2008 We Spent Two Wonderful Days On Tours With Lynn And Dennis, And Were Shocked This Morning To Hear This Very Sad News. Our Hearts Go Out To Them. I Do Want To Add Something About The Cruise For Those Who Are Worried About Anytime Dining. Contrary To Reports On Previous Cruises, We Had No Trouble With Anytime Dining. We Ate In The Coral Dining Room Each Night. Most Nights There Was No Wait At All - Two Nights We Had To Wait About 10 Minutes. We Were Perfectly Happy To Share A Table With Others. As A Result We Met Some Lovely People, And Had Most Enjoyable Dinners. So Cb Cruisers - Worry Not About Anytime Dining. It Works Splendidly. uwishufish Posted September 26, 2008 #64 Share Posted September 26, 2008 Thanks to Lynn for the day by day review. Embarkation was pretty much painless. Princess transferes were also smooth. Although we were told that we had to tip the dock workers or our lugage woud be lost. It is a shame that that dock workers at the Brooklyn Pier don't get paid enough and have to resort to extortion to earn a living. The passangers for the most part (90%) seemed to to be 70+ years of age very very few children. And as Lynn said manners seemed to go by the way side for those age 75 and above. Sabatine's was great! We ate there the last cruise night without reservations. As in walk right up and get a table. We both had the lobster. I ordered seconds, the tails appeared to be 4 oz in size. We found the food served in the other venues to be decent but unremarkable. We enjoyed the Movies Under the Stars on more than one night. The sound system had plenty of power, lots of bass. It seemed as though you could feel the explosions on the screen. By the way Bert Stratton was the type of show you either loved or hated. Thanks again to Stan and Fances who supplied the Mardi Gras beads and name tags for the Meet and Greet. Stan are you lurking out there? Until next time. uwishufish

Have to admit my wife and I were definitely on the hate side. I thought he was an decent piano player with a not to bad voice. However, I thought his act as a whole was an insult to his own ability. Plus I believe a lounge entertainer is suppose to be just that- an entertainer, not the leader of a group sing along. Out of all of our cruises he is on the bottom of the entertainers list. To all those who loved him glad you enjoyed.
RASHOPPER2 Posted October 2, 2008 #67 Share Posted October 2, 2008 I Totally Disagree. I Have Been On Two Cruises With Bert And Find His Shows A Lot Of Fun. Obviously I Am Not Alone - There Are Mobs Of People Outside The Explorer's Lounge Each Night With Big Smiles On Their Face. Different Strokes............ I think the people who do not like Bert are in the minority. On our last cruise, Bert did a performance at one of the lounges and it was packed. When do you tip them, at the airport when they pick you up? I guess I'm a rookie cruiser and not sure how this works. Thanks.

We were very dissappointed that this insulting loudmouth was there almost everynight. So much for a quiet martini to enjoy after a long day. For those of you who want a sing along maybe he should be in the explorers lounge or wheelhouse bar where there is more room for you to enjoy, and leave the crooners for a quiet martini. Bert puts on a show ( a bad one , in my opinion) so put him in that venue. Yes he draws a crowd, but so does pro wrestling and I won't watch that either. apeller Posted October 4, 2008 #72 Share Posted October 4, 2008 I have been following this post for a while and decided to finally add my two cents. When we were on the CB in August, Bert was on the ship and people seemed to be having a great time listening and singing along. We stopped by one night for a few minutes and listened and decided that he was definitely not for us. DH and I are definitely not fans and decided that it was too bad Burt wasn't in a room where the doors were closed and you would not have to be subjected to hearing him from 3 different decks on the ship. I joked with the people working in the stores about how they could listen to this all the time without wearing earplugs. He definitely has his fan base and all I could say is different strokes for different folks. We don't have to agree on this topic. We should just be glad that Princess has enough choices in entertainment for all tastes.
