Parking at Manhattan terminal

Coming in from Boston. Website says to get off at Viaduct ramp at 55th street . This sounds to simple.

Anything else we should be aware of??

I'm sure you're aware they now are charging $30.00 per night to park at the Manhattan Terminal. Personally we won't pay it and will take the train in instead.

Train way more expensive than parking.

We are 2 couples...train would have been $300 per couple plus $50 cab ride to South Station plus cab fare from Penn Station....total $650+/

Parking for 7 day cruise is $210 or $105 each couple. Even with gas and tolls added in, it is a lot more reasonable than train.

 

There is a bus that goes from S. Station to the cruise terminal for $85 each.

However, seeing as this is a Sunday-Sunday cruise we figured we'd try driving and parking.

We have driven from Boston to the Manhattan terminal twice and once to the Brooklyn terminal. It was incredibly easy to do.

yes they take mastercard and VIsa and you pay when you enter the parking not when you leave.

We are sailing on the Norwegian Dawn from NY City Pier to Bermuda next May, and are not interested in parking at the pier. We will be traveling from Princeton, NJ, and are looking for options for transfers to and from the NY City Pier. Too much luggage to take public transportation, and are looking for a shuttle that serves the area. Would appreciate suggestions.

I know you don't want to hear this but the fastest way is by NJ Transit train out of Princeton to NY City/Penn Station/NY get a red cap to bring your luggage and then take a cab to the cruise terminal(a cab is technically public transportation)...Amtrak leaves from Princeton Junction-long distance trains- which gets you to the same place(Penn Station NY) most of the time and then its a red cap and a cab again. Are you going back to Princeton or flying directly back?

I looked for a shuttle service on the internet, and all the ads are for airport services. Had had some problems in the past with limo services charging round trip for the tunnels, and expensive rates. Thought that maybe there was some shuttle service available from NJ, like they have at many other locations. The rail option sounds reasonable but looks like taxi to station and another taxi to the pier. Maybe a taxi to EWR and a cruiseline transfer to the pier will be the best option.

Petert the best bet is a local cab service from princeton but they will charge roundtrip tolls and charge accordingly since they can't pick up in NY. Its not that cheap to get to EWR either and then its a $50-60 dollar or so cab ride from EWR to the westside Manhattan terminals. So It will still cost a fair amount. I don't know what a limo/airport service will charge from Princeton to EWR...I do know it will be cheaper, less traffic, with a minimum hassle to train in from Princeton- the train stops right at street level. Its a short walk to the "station". At Penn Station a redcap will be happy to help you for a tip. Its a $10 dollar car ride from Penn Station to the pier.

Thanks very much for the detailed information. Since time is not a concern, the train service may be a good choice, and we can plan around the rail schedule. We usually try to keep it simple, but taxi travel in NJ/NY is probably easier than in some other locations.
