barbmac Posted September 20, 2008 #3 Share Posted September 20, 2008 WOW, that is so good to see. Looks like they are opened. They let more people on the island today. Areas behind the seawall are slowly getting some power back. I have a friend who has a beach house on the bay side of west beach. Some damage on the bay side, from storm surge. The house was totally rebuilt 3 years ago, so no damage to the upstairs. The boat and jet skis just disappeared.
Cruisin Dave Posted September 20, 2008 #4 Share Posted September 20, 2008 This is great news. I have a friend with a beachfront home. Still has had no news. Dave
*Mach* Posted September 22, 2008 #5 Share Posted September 22, 2008 Y'all can see a great little video interview with the owner of the Spot here: http://community.galveston.com/blogs/galvestoncom/archive/2008/09/21/ike-recovery-september-20-2008-dennis-byrd.aspx It was shot Saturday and he's VERY upbeat and, of course, very confident in the islander's abilit to recover... Cindy Posted September 24, 2008 #10 Share Posted September 24, 2008 Even better news..... the Cruise webcam is up and running!!! :D Now all we need is some ships to go with the camera! I have a feeling the islanders are going to do an amazing job of getting things back up and running faster than many of us are thinking possible.
