RedStilettos Posted September 28, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 28, 2008 My BF and I are going on the Carnival Liberty 10/25, with ports of calls in Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Jamaica. Do any of you know if they have pay phones on the docks? I can't remember if they did or not. I thought maybe it would be cheaper to buy an international calling card (yes I am aware they charge more per minute from payphones) and then call from port rather than calling from the ship. Any ideas or thoughts?
cb at sea Posted September 29, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 29, 2008 You're right--it is cheaper to get the calling card and use a payphone. Buy the card at the port where you will use it. The pay phones should be at (or very near) the dock!
eandj Posted September 29, 2008 #3 Share Posted September 29, 2008 There will be places to buy the phone cards at each port. You'll probably need a new card for each island. So just buy the min. you think you need at that port. Also, the phones you first see are generally on the main street and very noisy. Ask the ship staff the night before and they will tell you where the "less traveled" phones are. The cards you buy here won't work on the island company phones.
