Renting a car in Livorno?

Recommended Posts

We rourtinely rent cars in Livorno (and elsewhere in Italy) and most recently rented a car on May 1 from Maxirent (a local company). If you are comfortable driving in Italy, its a wonderful option for going off the beaten track. It does not make sense for those just going to a city (such as Florence or Lucca) for the day as trains offer a better (and cheaper) option. Most of the rental car companies can provide you with a GPS system (we take our own) and this is well worth the few dollars a day. Based on the latest info, Hertz might be a good option since they seem to be able to deliver cars to the pier.
