GORDONCHICK Posted October 8, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 8, 2008 I am looking for a good meeting place very near the port. I have been "talking" to someone on the cruise right after ours and we'd like to meet after we disembark but before she embarks. Any suggestions? I guess I should add that it should be very easy to find for people who have never been to NOLA before.
jgmpuma Posted October 8, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 8, 2008 The Riverwalk is adjacent to the terminal. Lots of places to sit around the food court.
map70065 Posted October 10, 2008 #3 Share Posted October 10, 2008 I agree, the Rivercenter food court is the closest thing to the pier. If you want to get specific you can say the tables closest to the Southern Food and Beverage Museum, which is right inside the door on the Julia Street entrance. GORDONCHICK Posted October 10, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted October 10, 2008 Thanks for the info. Is there like a coffee shop or something that would be smaller (and easier to find someone when you don't know what they look like) than the foodcourt? If it's like the place in Vancouver right across the street from the cruise terminal, it will be packed with everyone anxious to get on (can't blame them at all) like we were for our Alaskan cruise. I know anything very close will likely be pretty crowded, even on a Sunday morning.
jgmpuma Posted October 10, 2008 #5 Share Posted October 10, 2008 The Riverwalk isn't usually very crowded, even on cruise days, and there isn't much else around there. At the northern end of the food court there is a shop that sells Mardi Gras stuff. There are two big stautues of MG characters in front. It would be hard to miss. nolaAlive Posted October 11, 2008 #6 Share Posted October 11, 2008 Will either of you be traveling with luggage to the meeting location? If the elevator is broken, hauling luggage up the escalator could be an adventure.
lookingtorelax Posted October 15, 2008 #7 Share Posted October 15, 2008 I am the person wanting to meet GORDONCHICK. I will be staying at the Astor Crowne Plaza. Is that within walking distance to the Riverwalk? Or is there somewhere in the middle? I know she wants to get on the road after our short meeting because they have a long ride home. I want it to be easy for her and her husband.

The Riverwalk is behind Harrah's. I have to agree that The food court would be the best place to meet.
