Information on Carnival Volunteer Excursions

I called Carnival after reading about the possible volunteer excursions on here. Apparently the "volunteer excursion" is simply replacing one of their normal tours with a tour of the island destruction where you can donate to the Red Cross. There is no excursion where you can help out directly. I went online to look for this excursion she mentioned for next week and it is not listed on their website.

I saw a few people being picked up from the ship that were going to help with clean up, while I think that is great, be careful, if you were to step on something or get hurt in the clean up would they be prepared to take care of you? The only reason I say this is because I have been through four hurricanes and done A LOT of volunteer work. Its not easy work and it can be a little dangerous, IMO donate some cash and enjoy your time at the beach or Pool.
