What is there to do?

Our first cruise arrived at 7 and we walked to the southernmost point. It is a mile and a half walk so u must be physically able to do that. I think there are several places around Mallory Square where you could get breakfast or you can just browse around Old Town. Or stop in one of the early stores and get a key lime pie on a stick. Key West is a beautiful port of call. Maybe some of the locals that comment on here can be more helpful.

If your ship arrives at 7:00 AM, you probably will not be able to get off until 7:30 or later. If it is docked at the Outer Mole pier, you will have to take a "land tender" which is a Conch Train or trolley into town. That will take time also. So let's say, it might be 8:00 or even a little later before you are in town.

If you are able to walk around, head for Duval and check things out or head for the historic Schooner Wharf area and take pictures of the tall ships docked there or take photos at the tall brick Customs HOuse museum near the docks. The two stroy tall statues may still be there and they are a very popular photo op site. ANother popular photo op area is near the Ship Wreck Historeum where there is an "Old Salt" statue seated on a bench. It is fun to sit beside him for pictures. Also there is a kind of ship wrecked boat there, fun for photos.

The statues behind the Custom House are better than the grandma and grandpa from Corn Flakes

  • 2 weeks later...

We rented a golf cart and rode all around the island. It was so much fun. We ate at B.O's fishwagon and that was a lot of fun, then we parked on a side street off Duval and hit a few of the bars. My wife's health prevented us from doing a lot of walking so this was ideal for us. It was very much worth the money.

Where did you rent the golf cart from?
