bmorevacruiser Posted October 14, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 14, 2008 Ok, so we are first-time cruisers on the Jewel from New York on 10/28 to Miami on 11/9 for our Honeymoon. The Jewel is going to Samana, Aruba, Curacao, Belize City, and Roatan. Does anyone have suggestions as to the best excursions, or those that are the most worthwhile. We both love beaches and snorkling and would appreciate any tips you have on the excursions, cruising in general for first timers, NCL, or on the Jewel specifically. Thanks in advance! Blue Hen Mom Posted October 16, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 16, 2008 My husband and I were to Belize and Roatan this past March. We love beaches and snorkeling too. At Roatan we went to Tabayana beach through the ship. It was so beautiful! You could snorkel right off the beach. The water was so clear and blue! We saw alot of beautiful fish and coral! You can't go wrong with Tabayana. Belize we went with Coral Breezes to Bannister Island. That too is a great place for snorkeling, kayaking or just relaxing on their beach. Have a great time! fin Posted October 16, 2008 #3 Share Posted October 16, 2008 There is currently a thread running about Roatan with many entries. The snorkling is good there, if the ship makes the stop. The staff on the Jewel seem very competent and friendly. You should have a good time.
Snoopy at sea Posted October 16, 2008 #4 Share Posted October 16, 2008 In Belize you should look into cave tubing. Great experience sitting in the tubes going through the caves with only a light on your helmet. Something different and fun. :)
