Coastal (short) cruises - Formal nights?

We are booked for a 5-night Coastal cruise in May.

 

Does HAL have formal nights on shorter cruises?

 

NOTE: this is NOT an invitation to argue the merits of formal night. We LOVE to dress up, and will dress up on this cruise, regardless... :p

Yes, you'll almost certainly have a formal night on a 5-night cruise. The rest should all be casual, but your docs, when they come, will have a detailed description.

 

The three day coastal I took in May on the Oosterdam had one formal night.

We were just on a 5 day coastal reprositioning cruise on the Statendam coming down from Vancouver, BC to San Diego, and yes there certainly was a formal night.

We just returned from the Oosterdam on 10.04.08 (repo from Vancouver to San Diego) and all four nights were posted as "smart casual" but it appeared that the majority of passengers dressed for the evening especially on the final night.
