Key West Beach and Water Temp

We are crusing on Majesty the first week of December and want to know two things.

 

#1 Is there a nice beach to do on your own?

 

#2 Is the water warm enough to swim in?

There's a nice beach at Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park, and it's not a really far walk from the ship. It's just a bit south of where the ships dock.

 

I thought it was among the nicer beaches I've seen there. I spent some time walking along the beach, but didn't swim when I was there in March, so I can't vouch for the temperature.

Key West really isn't a beach destination. What little is there are man made beaches and quite rocky.

Just to add to what I had posted before, here's a link to the Fort Zachary web site, and a shot I took of it when I visited. It's a nice place with a nice little food stand nearby, etc.

Yes BUT when you are from southern Illinois and probably leaving 30 degree temps with the possiblity of snow/ice, ANY BEACH will be nice! ;)
