Wow, I didn't know Carnival was coming here next year! That's a pretty unique itinerary, i.e. neither of these ports have had cruise ships stops. I have to admit, I've been neither place, but I believe Baie-Comeau is the larger of the two; neither are very large. They're both in the Cote-Nord (North Shore) region of Quebec. I would think most excursions will probably be connected with natural pursuits, hiking, whale watching, water sports, etc.

Here's the tourism site for the region: http://www.tourismecote-nord.com/en/index.asp

I found this info helpful also. The Norwegian Spirit is going to Baie next year also, and we'll be on her. I noticed that HAL also has a stop during Oct. 2009.

Do you mean La Baie? You have to be careful, as there's La Baie, la Malbaie and Baie-St-Paul all quite close to each other. That's besides Baie-Comeau, of course...:D

The Black Watch & also Seabourn have previously stopped in Baie Comeau for a day. (If you like nature things its a good stop) One passenger actually went Bear Hunting for a day. But I myself dont like hunting defensless animals. other than that there isnt really a whole lot to do except walk around the old downtown, or visit some hydro electric projects, play golf,

or walk on the pretty sandy beach. but the water is really cold,

you will see marine wildlife, whales, seals and there is a natural marine park (Baie des pancreas). But seriouslt I dont know how the town will handle 3000 pax gonna be interesting for sure.

except ... visit some hydro electric projects, .

If the Electric Project you are talking about is Manic-5 (Daniel-Johnson Dam and Manic-5 Generating Station), it is extremely interesting and impressive. http://www.hydroquebec.com/visit/cote_nord/manic-5.html

It's 200 km from Baie-Comeau.

Manic-2 is not very far from Baie-Comeau. While I have never seen this station, I'm sure it can also be interesting. http://www.hydroquebec.com/visit/cote_nord/manic-2.html

Quebec has always been a leader in hydroelectricity.

The visits are free but you need to get there (and they are only from end of June to August, groups MAY BE able to book a tour outside this time frame). I'm sure the cruiselines want to make money out of it but if the price is fair, I think it's a good option.

They also have the Garden of Glaciers. It's spread out on many sites in the area. I've never been there but it seems interesting too :http://www.jardindesglaciers.ca/homepage-1.html

This site is in French but under Arts et Culture you can find listings of Art galleries, Churches worth visiting, exhibitions, theatres, guided tour (Probably all in French but some of those things might interest you anyway).

Havre St-Pierre is a very small Community and I couldn't find much information about it. From what I remember (I went there once when I was a child, the scenery is very different because it's up north). You can see pictures here (click on the thumbnail pictures at the left):

And here is the geographic location:

For Quebec City, here is my blog, you might find it helpful: http://jp2001-travel.blogspot.com/

Oh Dont get me wrong, there is a ton of things to do there,

its a great town as is Havre Ste Pierre. Probably some of the Best Sea and River Kayaking is around there, Blue Whales, Great fishing, Golf, Hiking I can go on and on, True there are many other places in the towns to visit for a Day that are iinteresting.its just beautifull during the summer ,Winters are a bit brutal, but you make the best of it and ski or snowmobile and have fun, I would say as nice as any Alaskan cruise, just the moutains are not as pointy

Nicest people there also, Its another unexplored paradise in its own right. (The beaches sand is as nice as in the Bahamas, but the water is just too cold for swimming, so you just enjoy the views of all the different wildlife

and thats quiet memorable in its own way.

HAL has not yet posted any information on either Baie-Comeau or Gaspe. Thanks for the link to Cruise St.Lawrence. It is very helpful. We will be on the Maasdam in Oct. Jane & Gary:)

The most important thing to see in the whole Gaspe region is Percé. (In English we often call it Percy but it's really pronounced "Pehrseh"). It's one of the world largest and most famous natural arches. If you are lucky enough to be there during low tide, you can even visit it... but don't take your time, it's only accessible for about four hours a day. And you will need a guide.

I agree that Percé (meaning ''pierced'') is a must see if you are in the area. I don't agree that you need a guide, you simply need a good watch and to know the time at which you must be back to shore.
