Can I "hire" a taxi for the day?

We want to visit the Concorde experience, but depending on time, have several other sites we would love to explore. If we take a taxi at the pier, is it possible to have it take us from place to place, or would we be likely to hail a cab at any of the tourist attractions? If you've done such a thing, do you have an idea what a reasonable cost for someone to take you around for several hours? Is it a crazy idea?

Thanks,

Meg

Search for OFFICIAL TAXI RATE BARBADOS

Point to point travel by taxi is regulated. Several sites report an hourly rate of $20-$25 USD per hour.

A couple cruise/travel sites listed this web site - http://www.scenicbarbados.com/

The official currency is the Barbados Dollar (bd) with an exchange rate of 2 bd = 1 USD.

Enjoy!

Thanks a lot!

Do you know if it would be best to get some Barbados dollars, or will they accept US?

From what I understand they will accept US dollars but give change in Barbados dollars. Just be sure to verify when someone is giving you a price which currency the quote is in.

Yes. Couple of years ago had a taxi from 10.00 to 16.00. Can`t remember cost but not a fortune. Did a deal at cruise dock. Told driver which beaches and hotels we wanted to see. Sandy Lane good but I would stay at Cobblers Cove. Driver took us to a great place for lunch on other side of island from hotels so good value and very tasty. A most enjoyable day. Back to ship 15 minutes early. Although price agreed was, all in, gave driver good tip for good service. Nice man. :) :)
