Parking in FLL

Has anyone parked in the lots that are close to the pier and much cheaper then the pier. It says secure parking just not covered with shuttel to and from the pier. We usual drive down and stay at a park and cruise but are leaving late and would have to drive till 1:00a.m. or so to make Ft. Lauderdale.. Thanks
