Horizontal line and black spot on LCD screen

Hi,

Hoping someone can help with this new problem. Yesterday, while taking pictures with my Canon SD 870, I noticed a narrow black line horizontally across the top of the LCD screen. Only showed on the screen - not on the picture. Then, today, while taking pictures on a sunny day, a round black spot showed up in the center of the LCD screen near the top - again not on the pictures. Since I'm on vacation this week, I won't be able to take it in for repair until I return. Just wondering if anyone has an idea of what's going on and if it will get worse over time. Thanks for any ideas/suggestions.
