steveaaaaa Posted October 22, 2008 #26 Share Posted October 22, 2008 Just curious if anyone out there has encountered any venomous snakes in the Caribbean? I know there are a few venomous species in the Caribbean. Maybe you have encountered them in the sea, in the jungle, cave tubing...or zip lining? I'm not looking for the odds of being bitten...just your encounters if any. Your stories are welcome...Thanks Cave tubing in Belize, guide stated that someone got bit the week before so stay away from the walls. L2J Posted October 22, 2008 #27 Share Posted October 22, 2008 snokeling in St. Thomas was saw a sea snake, the guide just had us all stop and let is swim by. The snake seemed very unimpressed with us but we were all a little freaked about it. http://homes.jcu.edu.au/~sci-bhl/sea_snake_biology.htm Sea snakes are cold blooded reptiles and are found primarily in warm tropical waters of the Indo-West Pacific. They are not found in the Atlantic Ocean or Caribbean Sea. I think what you may be referring to is the spotted snake-eel
