I didn't give up. And it paid off big!

Long story Short... I was told after receiving my first on board credit, that everything in my catagory was now sold out (4E). That I could no longer get onboard credits.( Because Carnival had nothing to compare it to.) Well, Every day I would check prices to see if my catagory was somehow magically listed! Well after about 2 weeks I logged on the other morning and there it was. Either someone had cancelled or upgraded.( Really I didn't care because now they had something to compare it to!) I called my TA and said Call now PLEASE!. I am very happy I kept looking because I now have a combined total of $200.00. I leave Nov 4th on the Fascination and this was my very first OBC on any cruise. Thanks to all of you who give all the wonderful tips on here.

What they might not tell you is that it is NONREFUNDABLE so you MUST use all of it on your cruise or it will be gone!

I know it sounds hard to be true - but we had a $360 OBC and were going to use it for an excursion in Belize, but it was raining, so we cancelled...we got the credit back (100%), but when I asked if they would issue a check or a credit to our charge card at the end of the cruise they told me no.

So I went to the SPA, bought some stuff, etc. we used it all!

I have wondered about that.

Not that I've ever had an OBC to use up (yet!), but still, I wondered if they would credit back your credit card if you didn't use it up.

Good to know.

There are SOME types of OBC that they DO refund to you at the end if you didn't drink it all up.

We also got a $5 per person credit because of some Mexico Tax or something, the Purser's desk I don't think really knew what it was for, fuel maybe that had went down??? I didn't care where it came from...but it WAS refundable, but we spent that too!

Something I always thought would work is use your sign and sail in the casino and then cash out. I have never used anything but cash in the casino nor have I had any OBC before. My BIL and SIL on our next cruise has nearly $900 in OBC (thanks to me, free drinks!). If he can't spend it all I'm going to tell him to pull it from the casino. Does anyone know if this will work?
