gkeep Posted April 16, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 16, 2004 Hello, I was wondering if any would could help me decide on my cabin. We are going on the Vision of the Seas Mexican Riviera on Dec. 12th. We are getting two connecting two person rooms, so there aren't too many to pick from. We are booking on deck 2, outside, and trying to decide between rooms that are close to the front of the ship ( four cabins back) , but are a little longer, or mid-ship rooms that are the standard size. I have been on two cruises before on different lines, and have always been mid-ship and up farther. I am worried about motion and noise. We will have our 2 and 4 year olds with us. Wanted to know if anyone had experienced these rooms or similar ones on RC ships. Should we be a little safer and go for mid-ship? Is the extra space much of a difference? Do you think there would be a big difference if things got a little rocky? Thank You!
cmjaffe Posted April 17, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 17, 2004 The lower down on the ship, the smoother the ride.. BUT you want to stay midship... esp. if you're concerned about rocking... been in forward cabins, prefer after over forward (and not meaning true afts just closer to rear). Noise may be more so with the forward cabins too. Carolyn
natesfirewife Posted April 17, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 17, 2004 We just took the Vision and our room was #2054, on deck 2. It was an adjoining room with our room having the two bunkbeds. The kids loved the bunkbeds and I thought they were kinda cool! Have fun. Misty Grandeur of the Seas / W. paw323 Posted April 17, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 17, 2004 The risk of having an outside on deck 2 all the way forward is that you're likely to hear the rushing of the water against the bulkhead, and you'll hear them dropping and raising anchor. If you are on the Alaska itineraries, there shouldn't be any anchoring, but there may be noise generated from tying up. I was in a Cat. C (JS), 8064, and life was good up there. Nice and roomy, but yes, more expensive. I've been in insides also, and in my opinion, anywhere on a ship is good. Just that some places are better than others. I agree with the other postings. Generally, the most stable cabins are those on the lowest deck, midships. Good luck, and have a great time. Vision is a wonderful ship, with a friendly staff. rmillsap Posted April 17, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 17, 2004 gkeep Try to stay midship, forward can get a little rough. Also, there is a thread for the Vision's 12-12-04 sailing. madforcruising Posted April 17, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 17, 2004 I would go for the midship cabin. It´s less rocky and much more quiet there. I´ve been on the Vision in a front cabin. It can be quite rocky at rough seas and if the sea is rough you get some noise from the waves coming to the bow of the ship. Another reason is that you´ll get noise very early in the morning when the ship is going to dock. Not only from the Anchor but also from the "side propellers" (I don´t know the correct expression for them). It can get really loud when they dock the ship. On the other hand although it looks like in the brochure the cabins are not really bigger. It looks like they are longer but because of the shape of the ship it just looks like. madforcruising Posted April 17, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 17, 2004 Thanks, I knew somebody will have the correct expression for it. Sometimes I have difficulties to find the right words for my postings. Sorry for this. I have to improve my English. Thanks again.
